Ian McKown began his journey as a tattoo artist in 2003 in Boulder, Colorado. From the very beginning, he was drawn to what some would describe as 'realistic' tattoos. However, it wasn't until recently that Ian truly found his own style within this genre of tattooing.

In early 2008, Ian decided to explore a new medium and began painting in oils. His focus shifted towards still life’s and portraiture, with a distinct shift towards more archetypal and story-driven works. This transition allowed Ian to tap into a different form of artistic expression.

As Ian delved deeper into painting, he found that the process was not only fulfilling but also allowed him to bring together elements of his painting and tattoo styles. This fusion resulted in something fresh and hopefully unique, showcasing his evolution as an artist. His journey serves as a testament to the importance of exploring different mediums and styles to truly find one's artistic voice.
