Joshua Carlton
Joshua Carlton, also known as Titan, was a multifaceted artist who left a lasting impact on the worlds of music and tattoo artistry. With nearly 30 years of experience in the industry, Joshua's artistry was deeply rooted in his passion for photography, which he developed at a young age through the works of Robert Maplethorpe and Ansel Adams.
Joshua's love for classical art is evident in the fluidity of his style, which seamlessly transitions between the stark black and grey contrasts reminiscent of Caravaggio's chiaroscuro technique and the vibrant color-realism inspired by artists like Sargent. His ability to blend these diverse influences created a unique and captivating aesthetic that set him apart in the tattoo art world.
Aside from his tattoo artistry, Joshua was also a talented musician who shared his passion for music with the world. He played guitar in well-known bands such as This Patch of Sky from 2012 to 2019 and Chiaroscuro from 2008 to 2011. His musical contributions added another layer of creativity to his already impressive artistic repertoire.
Tragically, Joshua's life was cut short after a courageous battle with cancer, and he took his last breath on May 11, 2024. His untimely passing left a void in the hearts of all who knew him, and his artistic legacy continues to inspire and influence artists around the world. Joshua's impact on the music and tattoo art communities will be remembered for years to come, as his spirit lives on through his art and music.
