Emink: The Self-Taught Italian Artist Who Built an Empire Out of Black & Grey

Some artists are trained. Some are built. Emon Hossain — known across the global tattoo community as Emink — is the second kind.

Born with a natural instinct for drawing, Emink started exactly where the best ones usually do: on his own, figuring it out with nothing but raw talent and an obsession with getting better. No formal art school. No blueprint. Just a kid from Italy who knew early on that his hands were made for something permanent.

Northern Italy, Global Reach

Emink is based out of Vicenza, a city tucked in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy — known for its Renaissance architecture, old-world craftsmanship, and a quiet intensity that shows up in everything it produces. That same energy runs through Emink's work.

Throughout his artistic journey, Emink expanded his horizons by traveling extensively across Italy, collaborating with other professionals in the industry and attending numerous tattoo conventions — building his eye, his network, and his name one city at a time. Then in 2020, he made his move: opening his own studio, Emink Tattoo Studio Vicenza (@eminktattoostudioofficial), a space that has since become one of the most respected shops in the region, drawing clients from across Europe and beyond.

The Work: Black & Grey With a Chicano Soul

Emink's signature sits at the intersection of black and grey realism and Chicano aesthetics — a combination that demands both photographic precision and deep cultural fluency. Portraits with cinematic weight. Gangster angels. Sacred imagery laced with street-level grit. His pieces don't just reference tattoo culture — they are tattoo culture, speaking a visual language that connects Vicenza to East LA through the universal grammar of the skin.

With 348K followers on Instagram, his audience has grown organically because the work earns it — post after post that stops the scroll and makes you look twice.

A Studio Built the Right Way

Clients consistently highlight the exceptional artistry of Emink's studio team and commend the high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and many have traveled significant distances just to get tattooed there. That speaks to something beyond skill — it speaks to an environment built with intention. Emink doesn't just run a studio; he curates a crew, and the result is a space where serious collectors know they're in the right hands.

Why Emink Is a Sullen Artist

Emink carries the same DNA Sullen was built on — self-made, art-first, culturally rooted. The Chicano influence in his work, the old school reverence for craft, the refusal to water things down for the algorithm — it all lines up. He's not chasing trends. He's setting a standard.
